Terms of Service
Welcome to Selectido. These Terms explain the rules for using our service. By creating an account or tapping "Continue with Google / Apple / Facebook," you agree to these Terms. If any part is unclear, email us — we'd rather explain than surprise you later.
1. What Selectido does
Selectido is a marketplace that connects customers outside the United States with independent personal shoppers inside the United States. You tell a shopper what you want; they buy it, optionally meet with you on video to confirm details, and ship or hand it off to you. Selectido is the platform — it is not a retailer, and your shopper is an independent party, not a Selectido employee.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 (or the age of legal majority in your country) to create an account.
- You're responsible for keeping your password and OAuth credentials confidential. Tell us right away if you think your account was accessed without your permission.
- Give us accurate info — name, country, phone, email — and keep it up to date. We need real contact information to deliver real goods.
- One account per person. No impersonation.
3. Bookings, payments, and credits
- Service fee — When you confirm a booking, you pay a per-hour service fee for the shopper's time. This fee is separate from, and in addition to, the cost of the products you buy and the cost of shipping them.
- Wallet credits — Credits you deposit to your Selectido wallet are your money held on account. You may withdraw unspent credits at any time from the Profile → Withdraw screen; funds return to your original payment method within 3–5 business days.
- Spending during a session — During a live session, your shopper charges your wallet for the items they purchase on your behalf plus the shipping cost. Make sure your wallet is funded for both before your session starts; if your balance runs short mid-session, the session pauses until you top up.
- Prices — Prices on the Shop and Discover tabs are shown for reference. Actual prices are confirmed by your shopper at checkout and may vary with store promotions, taxes, and availability.
- You authorize us (and our payment processor, Stripe) to charge your chosen payment method for deposits, service fees, products, and shipping costs you approve.
4. Cancellations, refunds, and shipping
The short version of our refund policy — the full text lives at /refund:
- Cancel ≥ 24 hours before your session: the service fee is refunded in full to your wallet.
- Cancel < 24 hours before your session: the service fee is not refundable because the shopper's time has been reserved.
- Shopper no-show: if the shopper fails to join the live session within 15 minutes of its scheduled start, the service fee is refunded in full and you can re-book at no additional cost.
- Damaged / wrong item: items damaged in transit or materially different from what you approved during the session are eligible for a refund, re-ship, or credit. Contact us within 14 days of delivery.
- Buyer's remorse is not a refund ground. Once a shopper has purchased an item on your behalf, the product cost is non-refundable.
- Shipping — Selectido arranges shipping via USPS, UPS, FedEx, or DHL (whichever is fastest and cheapest for your destination). Shipping cost is billed to your wallet alongside your items. Full details at /shipping.
- Customs, duties, and import taxes at your destination country are your responsibility unless stated otherwise.
5. Shopper conduct
Shoppers commit to buying authentic goods from legitimate retailers, treating customers with respect, and not substituting items without approval. If you believe a shopper behaved improperly, tell us and we'll investigate.
6. Prohibited items and uses
- No firearms, ammunition, explosives, or regulated weapons.
- No illegal drugs, prescription medications, or controlled substances.
- No items that violate U.S. export controls or the destination country's import laws.
- No counterfeit goods, stolen property, or items that infringe intellectual property.
- No harassment of shoppers or other customers, spam, or attempts to compromise the platform.
7. Package Forwarding Service
Selectido offers an optional Package Forwarding service: customers receive a unique "Suite ID" they can use as the second line of a U.S. shipping address. Packages addressed to that suite are received at our consolidation hub, logged, and forwarded to the customer's destination. Service fee is US$14.99 per outbound shipment (waived for customers who booked a US$75+ Selectido session in the same calendar month). Shipping cost is billed separately at the carrier's actual rate.
- Customer responsibility for declarations. You must declare each package's contents and value accurately. We may amend a declaration we know to be false; we will not knowingly assist with under-valuation, mis-classification, or evasion of duties.
- Carrier limits and exclusions. We forward via USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Shipments are subject to each carrier's prohibited-items list (lithium batteries, aerosols, alcohol, hazardous materials, perishables, and others). Items the carrier refuses or seizes are not Selectido's liability.
- Liability cap. Our maximum liability for a forwarded package is the lesser of (a) the package's declared value or (b) US$100 per package, regardless of cause. We strongly encourage customers to add carrier insurance for any package worth more than US$100. Carrier-handled losses or damage are claimed through the carrier's process; we will assist but cannot guarantee outcomes.
- Customs, duties, and refused-delivery charges at the destination country are the customer's responsibility. If a customer refuses a delivery and the package is returned, return shipping plus any carrier penalties are billed to the customer's wallet.
- Storage windows. The first 30 days of storage at the hub are free. After 30 days, storage fees of US$2 per day per package may accrue. Packages with no customer instruction after 90 days may be considered abandoned and disposed of, donated, or returned at our discretion; abandonment fees may apply.
- Inspection. We may open and inspect any package at intake to verify contents, document condition, or comply with carrier requirements. We will not photograph or share contents beyond what is necessary for these purposes.
- Restricted destinations. We do not forward to countries under U.S. trade sanctions or to addresses associated with parties on U.S. denied-party lists. We may decline service to any country whose import rules we are not equipped to handle.
8. Intellectual property
Selectido, the Selectido logo, and the app interface are our property. You keep whatever you post (messages, photos), but you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to display that content inside Selectido for the purpose of running the service.
9. Service availability
We try to keep Selectido running 24/7, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may suspend service for maintenance.
10. Disclaimers
Selectido is provided "as is." We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, secure, or meet your expectations. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all implied warranties.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Selectido will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$100. The forwarding-service liability cap in Section 7 applies in addition to, and is not increased by, this clause.
12. Termination
You can close your account any time from the Profile tab. We can suspend or close an account that violates these Terms, especially the prohibited uses in Section 6. If we close your account without cause, we'll refund any outstanding credits.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, unless your local consumer-protection law says otherwise.
14. Changes
We may update these Terms. If changes are material, we'll notify you by email or in-app at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new Terms.
