Why gamers worldwide need a US address
US gaming retail isn't just bigger than most other markets — it's structurally different. The exclusive variants, the bundle deals, the retro store ecosystem, and the licensed merch all skew US-first, and the gap is widest at exactly the moments international gamers care about: console launches, anniversary editions, and drop windows.
- US-only console variants and bundles. Nintendo's Switch OLED special editions (Splatoon 3, Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Red) launched in the US weeks or months before European or Asian distribution — and several SKUs never made it overseas at all. Walmart, Target, and Best Buy bundle PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X with US-exclusive game pack-ins (Spider-Man 2, Forza Horizon 5, NBA 2K) that the rest of the world simply doesn't see.
- PS5 Pro disc edition vs. digital — and what playing region actually means. The US disc-edition PS5 Pro plays Region A Blu-rays and Region 1 DVDs; international Blu-rays are Region B or C, so the optical drive is effectively US-content-only. The console itself is region-free for game discs, but if you wanted a Pro to also serve as your living-room Blu-ray player, you'd want to know that going in. Switch 2 cartridges are fully region-free.
- Retro game stores — LukieGames, DKOldies, RetroGameShop, Video Games New York. These four shops dominate the US retro market for NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Sega Genesis, Dreamcast, original Game Boy, and Game Boy Color. None of them ship internationally, or they charge punitive rates with no warranty. Our Minneapolis address is exactly the workaround they're built for.
- Pokémon Center US exclusives. The Pokémon Center US online store ships only to US addresses and runs limited-edition plush, TCG sets, accessories, and Pokémon Day drops that sell out in minutes. The Japan and EU Pokémon Centers carry overlapping but distinct catalogs — getting both means having one shipper in the US too.
- Hardware regional restrictions explained simply. Switch 2, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X, and Steam Deck all ship with universal 100-240V power supplies — you just need a plug adapter for your wall socket. Games are region-free on all four platforms. The only meaningful region locks today are PS5 movie discs (Blu-ray / DVD) and account storefronts. We help you set up the console for your region on arrival if you want.
The simple frame: if a US gaming store ships only inside the US (most of them), you give them your free Selectido Minneapolis suite and we forward. If it doesn't ship at all (Pokémon Center drops, GameStop midnight launches, retro shop in-person stock), you book a live video shopper. Same outcome — your gaming order on its way to your country in 3-7 days.
How Selectido works for international gamers
-
Get a free US shipping address in Minneapolis.
Sixty-second signup gives you a real Minneapolis suite. Use it at PlayStation Direct, Xbox.com, Nintendo Store US, Steam hardware, LukieGames, DKOldies, Pokémon Center US, GameStop, Best Buy, Walmart, Target — any US retailer that refuses to ship to your country. Free to hold, no subscription.
-
Order to your US address, or book a live shopper for drops.
Online orders just check out with your Minneapolis suite. For sold-out drops (Pokémon Center, Nintendo Store amiibos, Steelbook editions, midnight launches) or in-person-only stock (retro shops, GameStop trade-in cases), book a live video session at $75/hr and your US shopper queues, picks, and pays on FaceTime while you direct.
-
We ship to your door in 3-7 days via DHL Express, FedEx, or UPS Worldwide.
Every console gets the lithium-battery label and IATA paperwork. Loose cartridges and discs are bubble-wrapped against drop damage. We photograph contents free, hold up to 60 days for consolidation, then ship with full tracking to your country. Customs forms honest, harmonized codes correct, declared values accurate.
Start with the free US address.
Hold the suite as long as you like. Use it for Switch 2, PS5 Pro, Xbox, Steam Deck, retro carts, Pokémon Center drops — anything US gaming.

Lithium-battery customs note. Switch 2, Switch OLED, Steam Deck, and every wireless controller (Joy-Cons, DualSense, Xbox Wireless, Pro Controllers) contain installed lithium-ion cells. International shipping treats these as UN3481 — lithium battery contained in equipment — which means specific carriers (DHL Express, FedEx International Priority, UPS Worldwide), specific labeling on the outer carton, and an IATA shipper's declaration. We handle all of it: the label, the paperwork, the harmonized tariff code, and the routing through air-eligible carriers. Spare loose battery packs (UN3480) ship separately under stricter rules.
Frequently asked questions
Can you ship a US console internationally even with the lithium battery inside?
Yes. Switch 2, Switch OLED, Steam Deck, PS5 DualSense controllers, and Xbox wireless controllers all contain lithium-ion cells classified as UN3481 (lithium battery contained in equipment). We pack them in original retail boxes whenever possible, mark the outer carton with the required lithium battery label, and route them through DHL Express, FedEx International Priority, or UPS Worldwide — all of which are cleared to carry consumer electronics with installed lithium cells. Loose lithium batteries (UN3480) are restricted to ground or specific air carriers, so spare battery packs ship separately when needed. We handle the IATA paperwork, the shipper's declaration, and the harmonized tariff codes on every outbound.
Will a US PS5 Pro or Switch 2 work on my country's TV and power outlet?
Both consoles ship with universal 100-240V power supplies — Switch 2 uses a USB-C 45W charger that auto-detects, and PS5 / PS5 Pro use an internal universal supply with a region-specific cable. You'll need a plug adapter (not a voltage converter) for the wall socket shape, which is a $5 item. On the video side both consoles output HDMI 2.1 at 60Hz and support 50Hz and 100/120Hz on modern TVs worldwide, so PAL-region TVs are fine. The wrinkle is disc playback: a US PS5 Pro is locked to Region A Blu-rays and Region 1 DVDs, so European Region B discs won't play. Buying digital sidesteps the region issue entirely.
What about region locking on US game cartridges and discs?
Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 are region-free for game cartridges — a US-bought Mario Kart World cart works in any console worldwide. PS5 and PS5 Pro are region-free for game discs and digital titles. Xbox Series X / S are region-free for games. The remaining region locks are: Blu-ray movies on PS5 (Region A in the US), DVD movies on PS5 (Region 1), and some online accounts — your console's region setting determines which storefront you see and which DLC works. For most international buyers we recommend keeping the console set to its US region for full library access and changing storefront via account region instead. Pokémon Center US plushes and amiibos have no region restrictions at all.
Can Selectido grab retro games from LukieGames or RetroGameShop?
Yes — these are the exact stores live shopping was built for. LukieGames, RetroGameShop, Video Games New York, and DKOldies all ship only inside the US (or charge punishing international rates with no warranty). We forward to your country directly. You browse their site and send us a wishlist, we order to our Minneapolis suite, every loose cart gets tested on real hardware before consolidation, and the package ships via your preferred carrier. Same model for CIB (complete in box) collectibles from Heritage Auctions, eBay sellers who block international buyers, or Pokémon Center US drops that sell out in minutes — your live US shopper queues, checks out, and forwards.
How fast is delivery for a console to my country?
DHL Express to most major cities runs 3-5 business days from Minneapolis. UPS Worldwide Saver is similar at 4-7 days. FedEx International Priority is 3-6 days. EU destinations (Berlin, Paris, Madrid, Amsterdam) typically land in 3-4 days. UK is 3-4 days. UAE and Saudi Arabia 4-6 days. Japan and Korea 4-5 days. Brazil and Mexico 5-7 days plus customs. India 5-8 days. Australia and New Zealand 4-6 days. We quote all three carriers at outbound so you can balance speed against the carbon-fiber-thin margin between them.
What if my Pokémon Center US drop sells out before I wake up?
Book a live shopping session timed to the drop. Pokémon Center US opens limited-edition plush, TCG sets, and Pokémon Day exclusives at scheduled times in US Eastern. Your US shopper logs into your account (or ours, with you on video), refreshes at the listed minute, and checks out at retail. Same approach works for Nintendo Store amiibo restocks, GameStop midnight launches, Best Buy Steelbook editions, and Walmart console bundles. The session fee is $75 USD per hour — most drops resolve in well under an hour.
