These figures are current as of 2026 and come from Saudi Arabia's tax and customs authority, ZATCA. Rates and thresholds do change — always confirm the current numbers on the ZATCA e-stores page before you buy, especially for anything high-value.
- Under SAR 1,000 (about $266): personal shipments at or below this value are generally exempt from customs duty — but 15% VAT still applies. A small flat processing fee applies to personal-use declarations.
- Over SAR 1,000: customs duty applies on top of VAT, at a rate set by the item's HS code (electronics and many goods sit low, but verify yours). ZATCA's import service fee runs about 0.15% of the shipment's CIF value, capped at SAR 500.
- VAT is near-universal. The 15% is calculated on the landed value — item plus shipping plus any duty — and it catches almost everything, including many items that are duty-free.
