Sephora's holiday gift sets are the most-shopped Christmas category for international Selectido customers. They're typically 30-50% cheaper than buying the individual items, they come pre-wrapped, and they include US-only brands (Drunk Elephant, Tatcha, Charlotte Tilbury). Stock sells out fast — popular sets gone by mid-December. We recommend booking by November 30 for guaranteed inventory.
Trader Joe's holiday tins and seasonal items
Trader Joe's releases dozens of holiday-only seasonal items each Christmas: peppermint bark, hot cocoa truffles, holiday cookie tins, panettone, festive Cookie Butter editions, mulling spices, holiday popcorn. None of these ship from TJ's (TJ's doesn't ship at all). We do bulk holiday TJ's runs in late November / early December specifically for international Christmas orders.
How to ship Christmas presents without paying customs duty
Most countries have personal-gift duty thresholds. Strategies that work:
- Split big orders into multiple under-threshold shipments. If your country's threshold is $50, send 4 separate $40 shipments rather than one $160 shipment. Forwarding fee applies per-shipment so this only makes sense at certain price points.
- Declare honest values. Under-declaring is illegal and risks confiscation. We always declare actual values.
- Use gift declarations. Some countries (Mexico, Brazil, EU) have higher thresholds for clearly-marked gift shipments. We mark gifts as gifts.
- Ship to recipients individually. A shipment to your sister, a separate one to your mother — each gets the gift threshold.
